The Free State branch is probably the smallest branch at the moment. But ironically, we are called the GGSA Free State, but it is probably the same with other branches, our members are all from the city or town from where the branch operates.
But we have no plans of remaiing small in time we are going to recruit members from all over the Free State. The advantage of our branch is that it is located in the capital, Bloemfontein. Some of the wonderful monument buildings are The National Women's Monument, The Anglo-Boer War Museum as well as the Free State Archives Repository. We have very good relationshiop with both institutions and there is mutual co-operation.
Usually we meet at the Womans Memorial Museum, but due to the fact that it is currently undergoing renovations, we are temporarily meeting at the Free State Archive.
We meet every second Saturday of the month at 14h00. Notice of the meeting is announced in the media and furthermore, each member is also notified by e-mail.
The management currently consists of the following:
Chairman: Bertie Griesel, Treasurer:Jo Botha, Public liaison officer: Marianne van Dyk and two additional members Pat Bauer and Reza Brits.
