MY RESEARCH ON THE GENEALOGY OF THE SUNBURNT QUEEN
The first speaker of the day was Hazel Crampton, the author of The Sunburnt Queen, a book that speaks of outstanding genealogical research in the Eastern Cape. In her very interesting speech she encouraged genealogist to read diaries

which was written in the 18th century where reference to Afrikaner names and their farms are to be found. The Cory Library in Grahams Town has a vast collection of old maps on which the original names of farms can be found. Between other noteworthy remarks she also pointed out that several well-known Afrikaner families in the Eastern Cape are decedents of Indian slaves who were castaways from the ships that wrecked along the Wild Coast and if you come to a dead end with your family tree, try the missionary stations for information because it could be that you will find the link of deliberately forgotten family there.

REGSDOKUMENTE AS GENEALOGIESE BRON

{artsexylightbox singleImage="images/NTvlFotos/simposium/Neels.jpg" path="images/NTvlFotos/simposium" color="white" previewWidth="250"}{/artsexylightbox}

HOE BETROUBAAR IS MONDELINGE GESKIEDENIS?

As onderhoudvoerder
