Northern Transvaal Branch - Projects
In 2020 we celebrate the bicentennial anniversary of the arrival of the British Settlers in South Africa. It is a focus area of the GSSA and Dr Wilhelm Bernhardt, vice-chairman of the Northern Transvaal branch, coordinates initiatives to raise awareness in our branch.
The aim of the project is to make the 1972 Voters Roll available in electronic format. Northern Transvaal Branch is managing the project on behalf of GSSA, led by Annemarie Dreyer, treasurer of our Branch.
This GSSA project aims to preserve the genealogical information of South African interest contained in cemeteries with a view to make the information accessible to genealogical researchers. Oosie Oosthuizen is our branch representative.
The obituary funeral letter contains valuable information that is useful for genealogical and historical purposes. Janine van der Merwe is involved and represents our branch on this GSSA project.
The 1980’s model Gen2SA software programme was recently converted, improved and renamed Gen2Word. The Northern Transvaal branch is responsible for driving this as a GSSA project under the leadership of Otto Diedericks.
Each Northern Transvaal branch member is encouraged to complete and submit their Ancestral Chart for custody as well as introduction to fellow members. In this way, discussions about joint surnames and ancestors are encouraged. Otto Diedericks is steering the project.
