Helena Elizabeth VAN DEN BERG - deur Johan J POTTAS
Met die saamstel van die VAN DEN BERG register deur Johan J Pottas, gepubliseer in 2008, het ek op die meisie se geskiedenis afgekom en per toeval ook die boek van Ds August Daniel Liïckhoff deurgelees. Dit het my aangespoor om presies vas te stel wie is die meisie wat so 'n indruk gemaak het op hom.

VAN ROOYEN FAMILIE - deur Jopie VAN ROOYEN
Ek is eintlik nog 'n "kleuter" in die wêreld van genealogie maar aangespoor deur die geldigheid van 'n Chinese spreuk dat "To forget one's ancestors is to be a brook without a source, a tree without roots" het ek in Bloemfontein met hulp van Zouna Fonternel begin met 'n soektog oor my man se familie, die van Rooyen's uit Dordrecht in die Oos-Kaap.

In this Newsletter we find a report of a happy discovery in Portugal. Natalie da Silva's father in law hails form Portugal. He however ended up in the then Rhodesia where he married and raised four children of which Natalie's husband was one. The challenge was to trace the ancestors in Portugal. Read how she succeeded in the March edition of the newsletter.
Also read the fascinating story of the saving of The Resurrection, a fresco masterpiece by the Renaissance maestro Piero della Francesca, 500-year-old work of art. durin the battle for Sansepolcro in Italy in the article called " The man who saved the Resurrection" by Tim Butcher.
