Photos snippet : The first photograph was taken in 1827 by Joseph Niepce in France. 
On 7 January 1839 the Académie Francaise announced the invention of the photographic process by Daguerre. 
The first camera was brought to the Cape in 1846. Due to the costs involved, the primitive process and the size of the country, 
few photographs were taken before 1880 in South Africa.
